Terms of service

Last updated: 2026-05-26

1. What Orcus is

Orcus is a marketplace that connects customers seeking local services with independent service providers. We are not the service provider — we help discovery, coordination, and payment.

2. Eligibility

You must be 18 or older to register a service provider account. Customers under 18 may use the app with a parent or guardian's involvement.

3. Customer responsibilities

4. Service provider responsibilities

5. Pricing and payment

Orcus shows fair price estimates but final prices are agreed between customer and provider. The customer pays the provider directly (cash, direct UPI, or online via a licensed payment partner) — Orcus does not take a cut of that amount. Orcus's only charge is the provider's lead fee: a small fixed amount per completed lead, or a flat daily-pass charge, tracked in-app in the provider's dues ledger.

If a provider's outstanding lead charges (dues) exceed a published threshold, lead delivery may be paused until dues are cleared.

6. Cancellation and disputes

Customers can cancel before work begins at no charge. After work begins, charges may apply per the provider's terms. Disputes are handled through in-app support — write to [email protected].

7. Identity verification

Service providers must submit identity documents (selfie + Aadhaar) before going live. Orcus reviews these to keep the marketplace trustworthy. We may suspend accounts that fail verification or violate these terms.

8. Acceptable use

We may suspend or ban accounts that violate these rules, with or without notice depending on severity.

9. Intellectual property

Orcus, the Orcus logo, and the AI scoping system are our property. You may use the apps for their intended purpose; you may not reverse-engineer, redistribute, or use Orcus's IP for competing services.

10. Liability

Orcus is a marketplace. We don't guarantee specific outcomes from service providers, but we do investigate complaints and may refund or compensate based on the facts. Our liability is limited to the lead charges paid to Orcus for the affected transaction, except where Indian consumer protection law mandates otherwise.

11. Privacy

Our handling of personal information is described in the privacy policy, which is part of these terms.

12. Changes

We may update these terms. If we do, we'll notify users via the app or email. Continued use after changes means you accept the new terms.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by Indian law. Disputes go to courts in the city of Orcus's registered office.
